Backflow Prevention System Testing
Avoid receiving a penalty or eliminate a violation!
New York City has made it a priority to keep its water safe and clean. You are required by law to annually test your backflow prevention system.
Schedule an appointment and one of our licensed and certified professionals will come to your property and conduct a thorough test on your backflow prevention system. Once the test is completed, we will file your report with the DEP to get the violation removed.
The Benefits of Backflow Prevention System Testing
Regularly testing your backflow prevention system ensures that your water supply remains clean for your entire building. The backflow prevention system is designed to keep water flowing one-way. If there is an unexpected pressure drop, a backflow prevention system keeps contaminated water from seeping back into the fresh water supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are backflow prevention devices required?
Backflow prevention devices are an important component of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) drinking water program. These devices are a requirement under the New York State Sanitary Code and the Rules of the City of New York for businesses identified as a potential risk to the public water supply.
NYC Code 5-1.31 is the legal basis for the program and authorizes the NYC DEP to develop a cross connection program with the primary responsibility belonging to the customer.
Do I have to install a backflow prevention system on all incoming water services?
You may be required to. One of our certified professionals would need to assess your incoming water services to determine your requirements. The installation of the wrong device can be problematic and costly to you.
I’m not sure if my business needs a backflow prevention system.
There is a list of businesses requiring a backflow prevention system listed on the NYC DEP website. Any business that can potentially introduce a contaminant into the water distribution system is required to have one.
One of our certified inspectors can review and determine your building requirements. Once they are determined, a recommendation will be made for your premises.
Failing to comply with the NYC DEP regulations can bring on fines or even the termination of water supply to your premises.
Will I require a different system for my commercial and residential buildings?
Each building will need to be inspected to determine what is required. Every water service line to the building typically requires a backflow protector to be installed. One of our certified technicians can visit your premises and provide a free estimate.
Am I compliant with New York City’s plumbing laws?
New York City is serious about protecting its portable water. In 2008, a new code was put in place to protect the city’s water supply by requiring users to:
- Install a backflow prevention system
- Test the system before putting it use
- Have a certified Backflow Prevention Device Tester annually test the system
- File the results with the New York City Building Services
